Steps to create
paper:
- Tear scrap paper into small pieces.
- Soak the scrap paper bits in warm water.
- Make a frame. This step can be done while your paper scraps are soaking.
- Make a slurry of paper pulp.
- Dip the pan frame into the tub and allow it to fill with paper fibers. Gently move it under the water to ensure even distribution.
- Holding the pan level, lift it out of the tub.
- Place the frame pan, paper-side down, onto a clean, dry towel. Lift the frame and screen or wire mesh away, leaving the paper on the towel.
- Put another towel over the paper.
- Press the towel on top of the paper using a rolling pin.
- Gently lift the top towel off of your homemade paper.
- Peel the paper off of the bottom towel. Set it aside to dry overnight.
