First craft activity - June 6th, 2019
PUPPET TRAINING
Content: How to build/design a
puppet
Materials: Old socks, material for
eyes (bottle caps, beads, buttons, googly eyes, etc.), scissors, wool, glue,
foamy, marker, drill, stapler.
Objective: (Learning-how-to-learn) At
the end of this workshop, pre-service teachers are going to be able to conceive
a class in which these type of activity –the creation of a puppet and its use
in a class- is implemented as an ingenious way to encourage children’s memory,
creativity, the capacity of attention, imagination, emotional development,
motor skills improvement, team work, environmental consciousness, confidence,
among others.
Steps to
construct our puppet:
- Find a clean sock that's long enough to cover your arm.
- Slip the sock over your hand.
- Open and close your hand. Your sock should already start looking like a puppet.
- Use a marker to make two dots above the seam for the eyes. If you want your puppet to have a nose, make a dot for that as well.
- Take the sock off. Spread it flat on the table.
- Glue some eyes onto the sock.
- Glue a small pompom just above the seam for the nose.
- Add some other decorations.
